I consider it a great privilege to minister to these precious people at this special church.  One of the reasons it is so special to me is because it is the church I grew up in.   As a small boy too sleepy to keep my eyes open I would often fall asleep on the back pew while the service was just getting going at 10:00 or so.  I was taken to church whether or not I wanted to go.  How blessed I feel today because of a Godly heritage that placed a premium on spiritual matters.

This is the church I sang my first gospel song at the age of 6 with my mom and uncle.   At about 8 yrs of age my sister would pressure me to sing and play guitar for her friends after school.  Their favorite song was Elvis's "You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog".
I never realized it but secular music and especially rock 'n roll began to get a real hold on me.  So much that I was driven by the dream of becoming a rock and roll musician.

After I graduated from High School I traveled full time with our local rock 'n roll band called The Huckleberry Mudflaps.  What a name, but believe it or not we began to be booked solid from Canada to Florida.  In and out of bars and night clubs serving the devil with all I had finally brought me to the end of myself.  God was so merciful to me all those years.  Many times I could have gotten in things that would have ruined my whole life.  His hand of Grace was upon me during those long hours on the highway traveling to and from engagements.  Once, in Augusta Georgia we left out one morning in pouring rain heading home.  Having spent a night of partying with B J Thomas who was performing in that same area we lost control of the vehicle and rolled over four times down an embankment.  Some of us were injured but all survived that crash.

I had a praying momma and church that carried my soul to the Lord daily.  I was steadily becoming tired of the way I was living.  Then on November 30, 1971 I reached the end.  My wife Joy and I visited my mom late in the evening and about 12:00 I knelt at her little sofa while Joy prayed on the step at the back of her home.  The light of Jesus broke through on both of us and a new life began.

We began traveling again but this time it was for the Lord Jesus Christ.  For several years we covered states from Indiana to the coast singing the praises of God and telling others what Jesus could do for them.  We have so many precious memories of those camp meetings, revivals and song services where we had the opportunity to pray with hundreds of souls seeking the Lord.

I had always felt that music was my whole life until early in my forties.  I rejected the call in my life to preach until I was almost fifty.  I said yes to Christ and the doors began to fly open.  One door which came open to me was at my home church.  Those precious folk who already loved me called me to pastor.  Thank God for his faithfulness in our lives.  The running was over and I have never felt more in the center of God's will than I do today.

God is helping us tremendously.  We are seeing souls blessed and coming to the Lord.

My heart if full of praise to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who sent His son to bear the sins of the whole world.

If you are ever in our area we invite you to come and worship with us.  Our doors are always open to you.

God Bless,

Pastor Clint
